Highland Hills Middle School Afternoon Announcement for Thursday, September 1, 2022

 

Monday is Labor Day – No School – Our office will be closed

 

The new car rider procedures will begin on Tuesday, September 6th. Please take a moment to read.  Thank you ~ See below

 

The following Bus Route @ Highland Hills Middle School has been canceled for Thursday, Sept. 1st:

Bus #21-8, Carl Goodman

Route #15, Slot #24

 

 

  • Fall Intersession is Oct. 3rd – 7th (Mon – Fri)

    • The hours have slightly changed in an effort to better accommodate transportation.

    • The Middle School student day is 9:00am – 12:00pm.

    • Student registration will open shortly after Labor Day

 

 

Athletics Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

 

  • Girls’ soccer won their game last night against Providence. Goals were scored by Bella Stenberg and Emma Lawless. Home game tonight at 6pm against Jasper. Players should arrive to the fields at 5:30pm for warm ups.

 

  • The Highland Hills volleyball team had a successful night. All 4 teams won against Hazelwood starting with the 5th grade winning in an exciting match that went 3 games. The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams all won in 2 games. We wish them the best of luck tonight at Clarksville.

  • Football/Cheer recognition for 8th Grade will be on Thursday, September 1st. Theme: USA

  • In Cross Country ~ Led by Trey Pinter,  the YOUNG HHMS Boys XC Team took 4th place at the HHMS INVITATIONAL. Rounding out the top 7 varsity team was Luke Baylor, Hudson Everett, Hunter Schultheis, Caisen Gomes, Brennan Denk, and Colin Hunchman.  We had several PR’s (personal records) this week and we are very proud of our team.  Congratulations to Cooper Grantz and Graham Elrod for both making the Varsity team.

  • The Girls Cross Country team had another great showing at the Highland Hills Invite winning the team title. Lead by Noel Nifong, Adeline Shultz, Bella Milliner, Kara Walter, Emma Campbell, Loralei Stumler, and Jenna Wheatley. Blake Baylor won the girls Open Race.

Clubs (We have a club bulletin board located in the Commons near the Cafe’)

 

  • In club football ~ FC beat Providence last night, 20-6. Mason Roberts led the offense with great line work by Mattox Johnston and Joe Vermillion. Drake Houchins had 2 scores rushing and Jett Farley also ran one in. Jett Farley led the team in tackles with other drive stopping plays made by Memphis Barnes and Cooper Bretthauer.

  • Sudoku club – We are looking for students interested in joining a Sudoku club.  We will start in October and meet on Thursdays after school until 5:00.  Anyone interested should email Mrs. Jenkins (kjenkins@nafcs.org) for more information.

  • Journalism Club will begin meeting on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.   We will meet weekly in room A185 from 4-5pm.    This is open to all 5-8 grade students and we will be learning the basics of journalism while attending events, conducting interviews and taking pictures to put in the publication we will produce.     If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Taggart at staggart@nafcs.org.

 

  • The Random Acts of Kindness Club The Random Acts of Kindness Club will have our first meeting today. We will meet in the Library after school until 5 pm. All students are welcome to attend.

 

  • Dazzler Try-outs ~ September 1st & 2nd ~ 4:00 – 5:30pm (Gym w/Sarah Parker)

  • Chess club will begin on Tuesday, September 6.  It will be on Tuesdays from after school until 5:00.  We will meet in Mrs. Schroeder’s room (A244).  No experience required.  See Mrs. Milliner amilliner@nafcs.org or Mrs. Schroeder jschroeder@nafcs.org if you have any questions.

  • American Sign Language (ASL) Club will continue to meet in the Safety Net Room (across from the cafe’) every other Tuesday from 8:15am until the bell rings with the first meeting being on Tuesday, September 13th.

  • Campus Life for 5-8th grades meets on every Wednesday after school until 5:00pm in the cafeteria. Campus Life is a positive place where students can have fun with friends, talk about relevant issues, and be heard without judgment.   • Art Club ~ After school until 5pm in A251, the second floor science lab.

    • A schedule for the meetings has been posted to the Google Classroom.

  • Student Council Meetings with Ameilla Dusch and Amy Hucker ~ Room A336 ~  after school until 4:30.  This is the student council group that was picked last spring.

  • Picture retakes will be on Tuesday, October 25th in the Library

  • Car Rider Reminder – please pull you vehicle all the way up (bumper to bumper) so that we can get as many cars in as possible when loading and unloading.

 

  • No Students should be walking in the parking lot unless with adult supervision.  Thank you

  • Bus ID Pass: There is a $2.00 charge for any reprints of the Z-Pass

  • Students, just a reminder that you should be scanning your bus pass as you get on and off of your bus.  This is helpful in an emergency situation for us to know who is on the bus.  It is NOT required to have a bus pass at this time.  Please be patient with us as we need to get passes out to our new students.  Thank you

  • If you are anticipating being out of school for more 2 or more consecutive days, stop by the office to pick up a green Absence form from Mrs. Burger.
