Highland Hills Middle School Afternoon Announcement for Monday, August 16, 2021

• Due to a driver shortage, we have to cancel Mr. Lloyd Reed’s Bus 17-14 Highland Hills Route Slot #7 for Monday and Tuesday.  Mr. Briscoe also sent out a message Sunday evening to our HHMS families.

• We have been made aware of several positive cases that we will be contact tracing and calling parents.  We thank you for your continued patience as we work through these difficult times to try to keep as many students at school without going all virtual.

• Masks will be mandated INSIDE the school building starting today due to the increasing numbers of positive Covid cases throughout the county.

• Just a reminder, students riding to/from school on a bus must wear a mask due to the federal mandate.  Thank you for your support and cooperation.  We want to keep everyone safe.

• Morning Car Riders that arrive at HHMS @ 8:30am or later, please use the back car rider line.  Thank you!

• There are a limited number of 2020-21 yearbooks available for purchase. They can be purchased from Ms. Benning’s Room, which is Room A-253. Please bring $40 exact change or a check made out to HHMS.

Athletics Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

• Football-players will watch film in the cafeteria until 5:30 pm-players do not need to change clothes.

• XC boys and girls as scheduled.

• Girls Soccer as scheduled

• 5/6 boys soccer-no practice scheduled.

• Boys Tennis practice as scheduled.

• 7/8 boys soccer at Charlestown, bus leaves at 4:45 from HHMS.

• 8th grade Boys Basketball ~  will have “Open Gym” from 5:30 – 7:00pm starting on Thursday, August 19th and then every Thursday until Fall Break.

Clubs (We have a club bulletin board located in the Commons near the Cafe’)

• Campus Life for 5-8th grades will begin Friday, August 20 and meet every Friday after school until 5:00pm in the cafeteria. Campus Life is a positive place where students can have fun with friends, talk about relevant issues, and be heard without judgment. It’s a place where you will be challenged to make good decisions and lead in a positive way here at HHMS.

• Important Dates:

  • Labor Day/No School – Monday, September 6

  • Early Dismissal for Students/Staff Professional Development – Wednesday, September 22 (Students dismiss at 1:45pm)

  • Fall Break – October 4 – 15 (We will have intercession.  More information will come)

• October 26 ~ Picture Retakes

  • Parents will be able to order pictures online this year.  You will get a specific email with your student’s picture on it to place orders.  (5th Grade – Use 1st Period Teacher; 6th Grade – Use your 2nd Period Teacher; 7th/8th – Use your 7th Period Teacher)
