Highland Hills Middle School Afternoon Announcement for Wednesday, February 16, 2022

February is Black History Month – “Character is power.” – Booker T. Washington

Today is an Early Release Day for all students.  Students will arrive home 2 hours earlier than normal and do asynchronous learning.  There will NOT be any after school activities.  All staff will be in Professional Development Meetings.

 

Reminder: 5th period girls’ choir will go with the 7th grade lunch and then report to choir for 5th period@ 11:55.

 

 

  • Monday, February 21st is Presidents Day – We are in-session.  Students and staff will be at school.

 

  • Come out and support HHMS PTO on Saturday, February 19th at Adrienne’s Floyds Knobs location anytime from 8:00- 12:00.  A percentage of sales from purchases made that day will benefit HHMS PTO.  So go get your donuts and desserts and don’t forget to tell them HHMS PTO sent you!!

 

    

  • Indiana University’s Grammy-nominated Singing Hoosiers will be in concert at Floyd Central High School Auditorium this Friday, February 18, 2022 at 7:30 PM.  Tickets are on sale now at floydcentral.booktix.com.  Adult tickets are $10 and student tickets are $1.  Masks are required for all patrons at this event.  Singing Hoosiers has enjoyed a 70-year tradition of excellence in the contemporary vocal arts and has entertained audiences across the United States and in more than 25 countries.  The 90+ member ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists is an auditioned group that welcomes IU students with a wide variety of majors, both music and non-music.  The Singing Hoosiers is pleased to have four Floyd Central alums (three of whom went to HHMS!) in its current ensemble: Connor Bickel (sophomore), Jordan Burger (senior), Molly Cavan (sophomore), and Tess Rutherford (sophomore).

 

 

Athletics Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

 

  • The 5th grade boys basketball team defeated Silver Creek last night 37 to 18.  All scores were led by Graham Elrdod with 17 points and Quentin Ketterer with 6 points. It was a big win as the boys prepare for the tournament.

 

 

Track conditioning will begin on the following date/times;

  • Girls Track & Field Parent Meeting this Friday February 18th in the cafeteria from 4:30-5pm

  • Boys Track & Field Parent Meeting this Friday February 18th in the cafeteria from 5:15-5:45pm

  • Interested in playing baseball or softball? Registration is open for FC Little League! FC Little League offers a competitive recreational and community based program for area youth. Registration closes February 21st!

  • As of 1/31/22 – We can now allow our students age 12-17 to NOT have to quarantine if they do not have their booster.  They still need to be at least 2 weeks post their initial series, but they no longer need a booster to be considered up to date.  As long as they have their 2 doses and remain asymptomatic, they do not have to quarantine if they are considered to be a close contact.

  • If your student is in quarantine, please remind them to get on Google Classroom to work asynchronously so they do not get behind on their classwork.
