Highland Hills Afternoon Announcement for Tuesday, September 15, 2020

  • Students should be checking their school emails daily! 
  • For the remaining weeks before Fall Break:
    • 5th & 6th will come to school Mon/Tue & Thur/Fri
    • 7th & 8th will be Last Name A-K on Mon/Thur and L-Z on Tue/Fri
  • Virtual Learning for ALL Students (K-12) will on (See chart below):
    • Wednesday, September 16
    • Wednesday, September 23
    • Wednesday, September 30
    • Wednesday, October 7

All students will follow this schedule tomorrow.  It has been emailed out to all students.

Teachers had them write in their planners today. 

  • Tennis Practice for the week of Sept. 14 & 21: 
    • Green team 7th/8th A-K & 6th Gr. practice Mon. & Thurs. until 4:45. 
    • Green team 7th/8th L-Z & 5th Gr. practice Tues. & Fri. until 4:45. 
    • Gold and Goldex practice all 4 days until 5:15. (M/T/Th/F)
    • No practice Wednesdays.
  • Dazzler Dance Team Tryouts – Spread the Word! Coach Maddy welcomes all! This week is HHMS Dazzler Dance Team Tryouts: Thursday, September 17th from 4-5:30pm and Friday, September 18th  from 4-5:30pm (Parents need to arrive at 4:45 on Friday for a 5pm parent meeting.  Due to COVID the meeting will be held outside of the school on the sidewalk by Door #1.  Please bring comfortable seating for yourself and your dancer.  Masks are mandatory.)  Any questions feel free to message myself or Coach Maddy!
  • From our HHMS PTO: We have two upcoming Spirit Nights– Patrons need to mention the Spirit Night in order for credit to be received
    • Tuesday Sept 29th–Rapid Fire Pizza–all forms of dining qualify for the donation back to HHMS  
    • Tuesday Oct 6th–Sam’s Food and Spirits–all forms of dining qualify for the donation back to HHMS pm-close.

  • Progress Reports: To save on paper and due to our virtual students, paper copies of Progress Reports will not be going home.  Please login to your student’s PowerSchool Student Portal account using their Student username and password.  There is NOT a Parent Portal at this time.  Here are the steps to login or use the following link https://nafcs.powerschool.com/public  and Open Class link/Click on Powerschool icon/ Enter student username and password/Click sign in 
  • Please take this opportunity to be sure that your student has assignments turned in and takes advantage of retakes and redos that a teacher might offer.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns about their grades.  We appreciate the grace that you have given our teachers & staff during this time of working through the kinks in our new PowerSchool system and Teaching models. 
  • Free Tutoring Information: Indiana’s Call and Learn free tutoring service for K-12 students is once again being offered by retired teachers, courtesy of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. The service begins Tuesday, and no internet is needed. Retired teachers will assist Indiana’s K-12 students with language arts, math, science, and social studies. Students can call 1-877-45-STUDY toll-free [1-877-457-8839], 1pm to 5 pm, Tuesdays through Thursdays. Students in grades K-6 connect with a general education teacher. Grades 7-12 connect with a teacher with expertise on a specific subject(s): math, science, language arts and social studies. All calls are anonymous and recorded; student privacy is guaranteed and no student data is gathered. There is no limit to how long calls last or the number of times a person can call.

  • For traditional learning students: if you have a need to be virtual on a day that you are supposed to be at school (2 things):
    • Please email your teachers to let them know.  
    • Have your parent/guardian call the attendance line to let the office know as well. 
  • Virtual students returning to school for practice in the afternoon,  NEED to REMAIN in your VEHICLE until the buses have left HHMS.
