Highland Hills Afternoon Announcement for Wednesday, May 26, 2021

 

  • Yearbooks ~ Virtual students who ordered online will pick up their yearbooks on Friday, May 28 when they turn in their devices. Bring $40 exact change or a check made out to HHMS to Ms. Benning’s room in A-253, while supplies last!

  • Last Student Day – Thursday, May 27

  • Teachers Last Day/Virtual Students return devices during office hours of 8:30 – 4pm – Friday, May 28

  • Report Cards/End of the Year Letter mailed out June 3rd

  • Virtual Students need to remain virtual for the remainder of the week due to contact tracing procedures.  This is to keep all students safe.  Thank you!

 

  • Masks ~ The Governor’s mandate is still in place for schools to wear masks.  Thank you to everyone for following the mandate.  Nine more days of school!  We can do this!

 

  • 8th Grade End-of-the Year Celebrations – We will have an 8th-grade awards program on the last student day.  Parents have been notified if their student is receiving recognition.  They will have other activities throughout the day in their classrooms/outside.

 

  • 8th Grade students will turn in their devices today during 7th period. Please complete the half sheet. Let Mrs. Roth know if you need additional sheets.

 

  • Students in 5th – 7th Grade will turn in their devices on Thursday, May 27th at a scheduled time. (7th Grade in their social studies class, 5th/6th in their homerooms) Please complete the half sheet before turning bringing them to the back of the auditorium.

 

  • Virtual students will return their device on May 28th during office hours. (8:30am – 4pm)  If you are returning a Chromebook, please keep your charger for next school year.  Replacements will cost $35 and can be obtained through the bookkeeper. If you have an iPad, you may return the charger.

    • You will also need to return:

      • Any textbooks

      • Any novels

 

  • NEW FROM THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH: Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Now Available for Ages 12+ – The FDA has issued an extension of the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) allowing use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 12 years of age and older.   • Middle Schools Summer Learning Opportunity for a Two Week Learning Experience from July 12 through 23, 2021 from 8:30 – 11:30 am @ HHMS The Half-Day Experience will include: Math and English Activities; Daily indoor/outdoor physical activity; Friendship and supervision; Transportation to and from school; Breakfast and snacks provided.  This opportunity is FREE OF CHARGE for all NAFCS Middle School Students! ATHLETICS Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

  • HHMS Boys soccer ~ will have optional summer conditioning from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at HHMS on July 19th, 21st, 23rd, 26th, 28th, and 30th for all boys in grades 5th thru 8th. We will meet on the field in front of the building between the football field and the road.  Please contact coach Mike Campbell at either michacam73@gmail.com or 502-939-6760, or Ken Harris at harriskj@ius.edu or 812-946-0060 with any questions.  Please also join our facebook group Highland Hills Middle School Boys and Girls Soccer for all updates prior to school starting.  Students must have an athletic physical to participate in conditioning and tryouts.

  • Baseball ~ Last week Highland Hills  Baseball hosted Pekin Eastern in the first round of the Middle School tournament, winning 4-0. Gary Davenport pitched 5 innings had 7 strike outs and no earned runs.  They hosted Austin last night in the second round of the tournament, winning 11-3. Jags tallied 16 hits, as Ross Jackson goes 4 for4 at the plate and Travis Combs drives in 3 runs. Carson Loyd pitched 3 innings only giving up one run and striking out three. Jags baseball moves on to the Semi Finals, which will be played in Charlestown June 2nd.
