Highland Hills Afternoon Announcement for Friday, March 12, 2021

Sunday, March 14 ~ Spring Forward – set clocks forward 1 hour

  • Message  from the librarian …

In case you didn’t know, spring break is 14 days away!  I  know this because I’ve been doing a countdown for about 50 days, lol.  Are you traveling this year?  If not, would you like to learn about other countries?  Would you like to learn a new hobby?  If you answered yes … then I can hook you up.  I have displayed several books on different topics.  Pop into the library between the hours of 9-4 and check out some books that will entertain you over spring break.

From Mrs. Durham

  • For any Virtual students returning to In-person school on Monday for the first time this year, please meet at the tables by the pool area and your counselor can help you find your 1st period class.  Please make sure that you have completed the google form so that your teacher is aware, prepared & has a place for you in the classroom.

  • As the weather gets warmer, we just want to remind everyone of our dress code policy at HHMS.  (A complete list is on p.11 in the student handbook)

  • All tops must have sleeve and neck openings that are modest. Shirt should not be see-through.

  • Undergarments, midriff, and personal body parts should never be visible.

  • Shorts and skirts should at least hang from mid-thigh to the top of the knee.

  • Shoes should cover the entire foot – no open toe or heels.  No flip-flops or sandal type shoes will be worn.

We want to save parents a trip from having to bring appropriate items back to school. Thank you

  • Changes that start Monday, March 15 (additional items may be added later this week)

    • We are excited that our 7th & 8th Grade Students will be attending in-person five days a week!

    • Period Zero Students will be in-person at FCHS starting on Monday, March 15th.  After Period Zero class, students will meet in the FC Rotunda and a shuttle bus will then transport them to HHMS.

    • Contact transportation if you NEED transportation, have a CHANGE in transportation or need a ride to FC for Period Zero in the morning. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf69dbGZfaROLjVef31Z-77TVXX9Jb7BdaInhxRz8U9qxU1zw/viewform?usp=sf_link or email your request to Transportation@nafcs.org with all information.

    • Breakfast will be served in Cafe’ (instead of the Commons area). Depending when students arrive, they can eat in the Cafe’ or take the grab ‘n go to the classroom as they have been doing all year.

    • Don’t forget that breakfast and lunch are FREE for students.

    • Free Meals  ~ will continue to be distributed each Wednesday (except during spring break) at both New Albany High School and Floyd Central High School but at a new time slot! Effective, Wednesday March 17th the Free Meal distribution will be conducted from 1:00-2:00 pm.

    • We will return to using the green passes for dismissal for Door 28 for the first 15 cars in line.  This will help with getting our dismissal flowing and keep more traffic off or the main road.

  • Reminders that will stay:

    • Properly worn masks that cover both the nose and mouth are still required.

    • We will continue to have 2 areas for eating lunch – the Cafe’ and the Commons area. Both areas will have seating charts for each grade level.

    • Parents should contact the attendance line if your student is going to be absent that day.  This is the case with both in-person and virtual students.

    • The car rider line(s) will end up being more crowded, so please be sure to leave your house in plenty of time.  We will continue to use the front entrance as our auxiliary drop off for the morning until 8:30am.  This allows about 30 cars off the regular car rider line.

    • Please remind your student to have all of their belongings ready to go to exit quickly from the vehicle.  They are able to get out where there is sidewalk.  They should say their goodbyes before arriving in the lot. It is helpful when you pull your vehicle close to the vehicle ahead of you so that more vehicles behind you can be out of the way.  We really appreciate it!

    • We will continue to have seating charts for possible contact tracing in the classrooms, at lunch, and on the bus.
