Highland Hills Middle School Afternoon Announcement for Thursday, October 21, 2021

Good Luck to Braden Bertl as he competes in the Mesa Kids Food Truck Challenge this weekend.

 

Our county has moved to the “Yellow” with Covid restrictions.

What does this mean?

  • Any person unvaccinated is strongly recommended to wear a mask.

  • Unvaccinated students will need to be quarantined ​(masked or not) ​if close contact and within 6 feet of a positive case when close contact tracing.

  • Vaccinated students will not be quarantined if in close contact.

  • There is still a Federal Transportation Mask Mandate in effect for buses.

  • There will be an “all call” going out today at 4pm from Mr. Briscoe.

Other Covid Information:

 

  • If your student is in quarantine, please remind them to get on Google Classroom to work asynchronously so they do not get behind on their classwork.

Tuesday, October 26 ~ Picture Retakes (in the library) – The Retake code for ordering pictures online is 59334XA  Please discard any flyers or notices from the Original Pictures as the order code is different from the Retake order code. Those who received a picture package but want a retake need to bring the original picture package to the photographer in order to receive the new pictures.

Prosser Career Education Center’s annual Candy and Career Night is coming up on Tuesday, Oct. 26th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dress up and stay in your car as you collect candy and learn more about the many opportunities at Prosser.

 

 

Athletics Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

 

  • 8th Grade Girls Basketball ~ The parent meeting will be on Tuesday, October 26th at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria at HHMS.  The meeting is required so please try to have at least 1 member from each family attend.

 

  • 6th grade Girls Basketball Tryouts ~ 10/21 after school until 5:30pm

 

  • 5th and 6th grade boys tryout the week of December 15th.

  • Open Gyms

5th Grade Boys Basketball – 7:00 – 8:30 on Tuesdays

6th Grade Boys Basketball – 5:30 – 7:00 on 10/21, 11/4, 11/11, 11/15, 11/22

    4:00 – 5:30 on 11/30 and 12/7

  • Athletes must have a physical on file to try out.

 

Clubs (We have a club bulletin board located in the Commons near the Cafe’)

  • Random Acts of Kindness Club – Are you interested in making our world a kinder place? Would you like to make a difference in the lives of those around you? The Random Acts of Kindness Club, otherwise known as RAK, will have our first meeting after school in the library next Wednesday, October 27th until 4:45 pm. To participate, you will need to pick up a packet from the wooden slots in the front lobby on your way in or out of school, or pick up a form at lunch. You must bring the signed participation form with you to the first meeting on October 27th and have a ride pick you up no later than 4:45 pm. If you have any questions, please see the club sponsors- Mrs. Strause or Mrs. Boehnlein. This club is for all grades and we look forward to seeing many students at our first meeting!

  • HHMS Clover Club will meet in room A287 today (Oct. 21) at 4:00.

  • Campus Life will meet tomorrow after school in the cafeteria

  • The Floyd Central Emerald Guard would like to invite you to join the 2021-2022 Season. They will be holding a color guard Interest Meeting: Friday November 3rd – 7:00pm @ Floyd Central High School – Band Room (door 6).  This is a no obligation interest meeting designed to give more information about the program to gauge interest and to see if it is a good fit for you and your child.  During this meeting the parents are informed of the ins and outs of the program while the students get a hands on course in colorguard from the student leadership team.  We feel this is a great way for you as a parent to learn about our inner workings as an organization, and your child will learn about a typical day as an Emerald Guard member. We will be accepting interest from grades 4th – 8th grade.

  • Fishing Club – The NAFCS Fishing Club will meet on the following dates:  in E101 at FCHS from 6:00 – 7:00pm on October 25, November 15, & December 13

  • Intramurals is for any student who is interested in playing sports before the school day begins.  We play a different sport every week.  Drop off for intramurals is door 28.   If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Fox.

    • 7th and 8th grade is on Thursdays from 7:30 – 8:30 am.

    • 5th and 6th grade is on Fridays from 7:30 – 8:30am.

  • The Chess Club meets every Monday after school until 5pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend, no experience required.  The club will meet in Mrs. Milliner’s room (A102).

  • The Book Club for 5th & 6th grade students will meet on Mondays afterschool until 5:00pm in the library.  See Ms. Durham if you have any questions. (Monday Oct. 25, Nov. 8, and Dec. 6)

  • Dungeons and Dragons ~ If you play Dungeons and Dragons or would like to learn how to play.  You are welcome to come to the newly formed Dungeons and Dragons club.  We will meet on Thursdays until 5:00 in the cafe’. (Note: change of location)

  • Attention!!  5th through 8th graders….Highland Hills Theatre Group, the Shadow Players, is going to go UNDER THE SEA this school year!!!!  OUR SPRING MUSICAL IS….Disney’s LITTLE MERMAID, JR!  Come be PART OF THEIR WORLD as we join the adventures of Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian, Flounder, the evil Ursula and many more!
