Highland Hills Middle School Afternoon Announcement for Monday, October 18, 2021

 

Attention!!  5th through 8th graders….Highland Hills Theatre Group, the Shadow Players, is going to go UNDER THE SEA this school year!!!!  OUR SPRING MUSICAL IS….Disney’s LITTLE MERMAID, JR!  Come be PART OF THEIR WORLD as we join the adventures of Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian, Flounder, the evil Ursula and many more!

Auditions will be held in FEBRUARY with performances on April 22 and 23.  Please join Mrs. Scott’s Google Classroom to get the most up to date announcements and information.

Prosser Career Education Center’s annual Candy and Career Night is coming up on Tuesday, Oct. 26th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dress up and stay in your car as you collect candy and learn more about the many opportunities at Prosser.

Athletics Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

 

  • FC Gold football beat Scott County, over fall break,14-12 at Scottsburg. Excellent blocking by the offense led to points scored by Max Eichenberger. On defense, Quenton Ketterer got a sack that forced a fumble, with another fumble recovered by Ronan Clayton. Also an onside kick recovered by Quenton Ketterer helped seal Gold’s 4th win in a row.

 

  • FC Gold football also beat Silver Creek Orange over fall break in a 4 overtime thriller, 36-34. Max Eichenberger led the team in scoring with Luke Baylor also scoring a touchdown. Max Eichenberger and Quenton Ketterer recorded a sack and Joey Vermillion recovered a fumble on defense for the teams 5th win in a row.

 

Here are the tryouts that will occur the week we return from fall break.

8th grade Boys Basketball ~ 10/18, 10/19, 10/20 from 5:30-7:00pm

7th grade Boys Basketball ~ 10/18, 10/19 from  7:00-8:30pm

8th grade Girls Basketball ~ 10/18, 10/19, 10/20 from 5:30-7:00pm

7th grade Girls Basketball ~ 10/18, 10/19, 10/20 after school until 5:30pm

6th grade Girls Basketball ~ 10/19, 10/20, (from 7:00 – 8:30 both days) & 10/21 after school until 5:30pm

5th grade Girls Basketball ~ 10/18, 10/19, 10/20 after school to 5:30pm

5th and 6th grade boys tryout the week of December 15th.

Athletes must have a physical on file to try out.

 

Clubs (We have a club bulletin board located in the Commons near the Cafe’)

  • Intramurals is for any student who is interested in playing sports before the school day begins.  We play a different sport every week.  Drop off for intramurals is door 28.   If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Fox.

    • 7th and 8th grade is on Thursdays from 7:30 – 8:30 am.

    • 5th and 6th grade is on Fridays from 7:30 – 8:30am.

  • The Chess Club meets every Monday after school until 5pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend, no experience required.  The club will meet in Mrs. Milliner’s room (A102).

  • The Book Club for 5th & 6th grade students will meet on Mondays afterschool until 5:00pm in the library.  See Ms. Durham if you have any questions. (Monday Oct. 25, Nov. 8, and Dec. 6)

  • Dungeons and Dragons ~ If you play Dungeons and Dragons or would like to learn how to play.  You are welcome to come to the newly formed Dungeons and Dragons club.  We will meet on Thursdays until 5:00 in Mrs. Lopp’s room A323.

 

Good luck to any of our Jaguars that perform or play this evening.  Remember that there are three things that YOU can control: your attitude, your actions, and your effort.  Give it your best!  Have a great afternoon.

 

Covid Information:

 

  • If your student is in quarantine, please remind them to get on Google Classroom to work asynchronously so they do not get behind on their classwork.

 

  • If any household members have a pending covid test, please contact our school nurse, Heather Murray at 812.542.8501 or via email: hmurray@nafcs.org You may also email Mrs. Ivey @ wivey@nafcs.org.

 

  • Masks are still mandated INSIDE the school building.  Students riding to/from school on a bus must wear a mask due to the federal mandate.  Thank you for your support and cooperation.  We want to keep everyone safe.

  • Important Dates:

  • October 26 ~ Picture Retakes (in the library) – Parents will be able to order pictures online this year.  You will get a specific email with your student’s picture on it to place orders.  (5th Grade – Use 1st Period Teacher; 6th Grade – Use your 2nd Period Teacher; 7th/8th – Use your 7th Period Teacher)

 

 

  • October 27 – Report Cards will go home with students

 

  • October 28 – No School for students; 5th & 6th Grade Parent/Teacher Conferences; 7th & 8th Grade Teachers will have Professional
