Highland Hills Middle School Afternoon Announcement for Thursday, January 13, 2022

Floyd County is now in RED for the Covid Status.  It is HIGHLY encouraged for only family members to attend athletic events at HHMS.  We ask that you continue to keep our after school activities going by wearing a mask.

On December 10, 2021, a tornado hit Western Kentucky, impacting the Bowling Green and Western Kentucky University campus. We will be having a hat day to raise money for the Bowling Green community (next week) on Friday, January 21st. Mrs. Raines and Mrs. Seewer will be out in the hallways before school on Thursday and Friday to sell stickers for $1. You will have to have a sticker to participate.

 

 

  • This year you can make your yearbook extra special by purchasing a student ad! Information can be found at www.yearbookforever.com. The deadline to purchase ads is Saturday!

 

  • PTO Spirit Nights:

Jan 13: Texas Roadhouse

Texas Roadhouse–Carryout or Dine In. 10% of all purchases goes back to HHMS PTO. Must mention fundraiser to get credit. Clarksville Location. 12pm-9pm.

  • Prosser is a place where you can explore your natural talents, passions or simply gain new skills through hands-on learning. You can learn about different jobs ranging from computer programming, dentistry, welding to culinary arts! Let Prosser help you navigate your future plans! Take a look at our classrooms and lab spaces during our Open House on Thursday, January 20 from 5:30 – 7 p.m.

 

 

 

  • The next PTO meeting will be 4:00pm on Monday, February 7th in the library. We’d love to have you there!

 

 

Athletics Announcements (We also have an athletic bulletin board located in the Commons near the pool)

 

 

  • Tuesday Night, the 8th grade boys lost at home to Scribner 40 – 33.  It was an intense game full of energy and we stepped up to the challenge.  We never gave up and played hard until the last second.  The leading scorers were Lance Metz with 8 points, Sebastian Robertson with 8 points, and Matt Polk with 5 points.

 

  • The 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Providence on Tuesday 32 to 24. Scoring for the team were Elise Coleman with 14, Eva Casteel with 8, Brinley Clark with 6, and Ava Casteel with 4.

 

  • The 6th grade boys basketball team improved their record to 2-0 last night by defeating North Harrison 54-45.  Leading the way was:  Ethan Noble with 15 points, Noah Baker with 11points, Blake Shuler-Scanlon with 10 points.  Special shout out to Owen Howard who provided great play off the bench

 

  • The HHMS 8th boys defeated Silver Creek last night at home 42 – 34.  It was another impressive team effort with top notch defense and everyone playing hard until the last second.  The leading scorers were Sebastian Robertson 12 points, Jude Vetter 9 points, Carter McQuigg 5 points, Lance Metz 5 points, and Matt Polk 5 points.  Keep up the hard work!

 

  • HHMS 5th grade boys basketball got beat last night against North Harrison 27 to 38.  The team made a valiant comeback but just not enough in the end.  Leading scorers for the team were Graham Elrod and Cameron Wymer with 9 points apiece.

 

 

 

Tryout info for swimming and diving.  The dates/times are:

Tryouts:

5th/6th Grade Students: Tuesday February 8, 4:00 – 5:00

7th/8th Grade Students: Wednesday February 9, 4:00 – 5:00

 

 

Track conditioning will begin on the following date/times;

Girls begin on 2-28-22,  M-Th after school until 5pm.  Be prepared to run outside, run indoors if the weather is too bad.  Be prepared to run outside, run indoors if the weather is too bad.

  • Little Mermaid Jr auditions and tech interviews will be held the week of Feb 14. Please join the HHMS Theatre Google Classroom for more details!  Join code:  womtbf2.

Who:   7th and 8th grade students

When:  Tuesday and Thursday 3:45-4:45pm

STARTING ON THURSDAY, JAN 13TH

Where: A222 ( Mrs. Boling’s room)

Homework help – If you have math questions, come get them answered –  It’s free!To Sign up-

  • Sign up list will be located in the front office starting on the Friday before.

    • Post- Tuesday/Thursday list for the week the Friday morning before.

  • Number of spots is limited each week

    • Students should remove their name from the list if they find that they can’t attend. *Students waiting to get in should continue checking the list

IN Classroom –

  • Students MUST bring an assignment or specific questions to work on.

  • Teachers will not be providing material/worksheets/study material, etc.

  • Students will be asked to call parents to pick them up if they do not have material to practice or work on. (See math teacher or go online to find extra practice materials as needed.)

NOTE:  This is NOT one-on-one tutoring.   If you are looking for an individual tutor, you can contact your counselor or math teacher for suggestions.
